As National Disability Employment Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to highlight CIS School to Work Transition programs, and the incredible efforts our team puts in to help youth with disabilities prepare for and enter the workforce.

Since the start of the school year, we’ve marveled at the creative adaptation on display. Pictured here are Patrick, Bob, and Michael, students at a Philadelphia-area high school. While the pandemic has hindered opportunities for the internships with community businesses we typically strive for, our Transition Services team found a great solution by finding work experiences for them within their own high school and district office campuses.

A given day might bring them to their district’s administrative offices, where they learn new tech and office skills; the next might take them to their district’s Supports & Operations team, where they learn about all the different kinds of work that goes into making a school run seamlessly. Along the way, they’re learning each day the crucial skills of hard work, team work, and a positive attitude that will help them succeed in the careers they choose to pursue!

We’re proud of Patrick, Bob, and Michael for their flexibility, good spirits, and all their hard work, and grateful to our Transition Services team for finding innovative ways to prepare students for exciting and fulfilling careers.
