As Temple Beth Hillel Beth El celebrated the Jewish High Holidays this fall, the theme of Teshuvah—meaning “repentance,” but also “return”—had special resonance for Steven, a CIS participant.
He attended the temple as a boy, and had recently returned to its halls, this time in his brand new role as the temple’s Office and Administrative Assistant.
Steven’s been a great addition since being hired in July. He’s a whiz at data work, and has helped create the digital infrastructure of forms and documents to help keep organized the many events that take place at the temple.
“It’s been lovely to have him,” said Hallie Chandler, the Temple’s Director of Community Engagement. “He’s taken care of so many ‘parking lot projects’—big, long-time tasks that haven’t gotten done—and accomplished them. His work makes life much easier.”
Steven grew up in the Lower Merion area, and first attended the temple as part of its Bright Horizons program, and later for Hebrew school. “This is the place where I met many of my friends,” he said, reflecting on his own beginnings at the temple.
Now, all these years later, he gets to help create the same warm and welcoming community for the next generation.
Join us in congratulating Steven on his position, and for truly coming full circle!
