A neat facet of the job search process at CIS is the Assessment opportunities we provide participants, where they get to try out different jobs so they can get a better sense of their work skills and what kind of careers they might want to pursue.

Pictured is Shamir during a recent Assessment at PAR Recycle Works. Shamir’s a student at a local charter school, and is beginning to think about post-school employment. He’s working with one of our Employment Trainers, Joanne, who helped set up the Assessment at PAR. He had a great day learning the ins and outs of the different jobs there, and got to try his hand at helping deconstruct recycled electronics.

“Shamir SUPER liked this Assessment,” Joanne told us. “He said he would stay all day here if he had the chance. The person helping him learn what to do said he has a great attitude and is a quick learner! Shamir’s worked independently taking stuff apart, and he was super excited to talk about it on our way home.”

These Assessment opportunities help the people we serve figure out what kind of job might suit them best, and we’re so happy to see Shamir have such a great experience. For more information on how CIS works for people with disabilities, head to CISworks.org!
