Give it up for Rafiq, whose hard work at Bon Appetit at the University of Pennsylvania has led to him landing a full-time position!

Here’s the backstory: Last August he started part-time as a food service worker for Bon Appetit at Hill House dining hall. He took to the job quickly and received lots of praise from his team members and managers.

Rafiq’s hard work didn’t go unnoticed: At the end of the semester, his manager asked him if he would be interested in applying for a full-time position. Fast-forward to the start of the fall semester, and Rafiq was back at work, this time as a full-time employee!

“I am so happy for Rafiq and his hard work to get the recognition since this is very first job right out of high school,” said Danielle McIlhenny, CIS’s Assistant Director of Employment. “He is adjusting very well with his new schedule and new responsibilities.”

Rafiq’s success shows the power of teamwork: over the summer, a team from CIS including Danielle, Nairi, and Brianna assisted him with interviewing for the full-time role and completing his onboarding. In addition to the full-time hours, wages, and benefits, one small perk is that Rafiq has graduated from a maroon work-shirt to a blue one, which signifies him as a full-time employee.

We are so proud of Rafiq in his new role, and we cannot wait to hear about his endeavors during this new semester!
