Along with the summer heat came some good news for Gene: last month he received a commemorative pin celebrating the work he’s done in his two years on the job at ACME Markets.

Gene started there in June 2018 as a Cart Attendant, and since day one his hard work has helped him grow in the position: tasks he once shied away from due to inexperience he now volunteers for, and as a veteran on the job, he has become a role model to newer employees.

Gene’s developed something of a reputation around Acme as being the “fastest lot attendant,” said CIS Employment Specialist Jo-Ann, with Gene’s supervisor adding that his efficiency on the job is “off the chart.”

More than anything, it’s Gene’s preparation and reliability that that have stood out the most: Gene typically shows up to work not just on-time but early, and works hard to continue to excel at his job. He says he wants to be a long-term employee at Acme, and so is always looking for ways to expand his skill-set and learn from those he works with.
