Michael Celebrates 10-Years at Work

We want to give a big shoutout to Michael, a CIS participant who was one of the unsung heroes amidst this winter’s record-setting snow.

Michael works for Bon Appétit Management Company at the University of Pennsylvania’s dining halls, where he’s a much-loved and greatly valued employee. He’s coming up on his 10-year anniversary there, and he typically works 30-40 hours per week. When the snowstorm hit in January, his Manager knew he’d need Michael on hand.

To make sure Michael could get to work safely all weekend rather than having to commute from home, UPenn agreed to put him up at a hotel in University City. As the snow rolled in, Mike got to watch it arrive from his hotel environs, got a good night’s rest, and then was back on the job at Penn’s dining halls both Sunday and Monday after a second night at the hotel.

Michael’s path to becoming such an essential employee is all due to his hard work and commitment. He first started out in a part-time role, and did such a great job that he was quickly promoted to a full-time position. He’s set a great example to numerous CIS participants who’ve been hired by Bon Appetit at Penn since Michael first started working there, and he’s been a mentor to them as he’s been mentored in turn by the incredible Bon Appetit team at Penn.

Thanks for all your hard work, Michael, and congrats on nearing ten years at work!
