Op-Ed from Michael Anderson from Philadelphia Inquirer

We’re overflowing with pride and admiration to share this @phillyinquirer op-ed from Michael Anderson, a CIS participant employed at the ARC of Philadelphia, where he works as a legislative advocate.

Michael’s op-ed sheds light on the unequal access faced by people with disabilities at public venues like museums and sports stadiums, which all too often charge people with disabilities two entrance fees if they are accompanied by a care attendant.

As Michael writes, “I believe the time has come to enact legislation requiring all venues in the commonwealth to admit personal care attendants for people with disabilities free of charge.”

Michael’s call is gaining traction. He’s pictured here with State Rep. Tarik Khan of Philadelphia who—alongside State Senator Art Haywood—introduced HB 1104, a bill named after Michael that would ensure people with disabilities have equal access to all entertainment and educational venues throughout the state.

Michael’s op-ed is a must-read, and the full article can be found here. Way to go, Michael, we are so proud!
