Cowboy up, everyone! We couldn’t be more excited to announce that CIS participant “George the Leather Man” has a fresh new website and brand, and to share this inside look at George at work in his studio.
George is a self-taught artisan born in Amish country near Lancaster, PA, and he’s been making one-of-a-kind leather jewelry and accessories for years. George brings an old-school approach to his craft: he cuts, stamps, and dyes all his vegetable-tanned leather by hand to create utterly stunning, singular pieces.
George’s designs are influenced by his love of the old West, horses, and cowboys. He’s volunteered for years at the Chaminoux Equestrian Center in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park, where he cares for the horses. And when he’s not in the studio or volunteering at Chaminoux, you can find him at his job with the Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation.
