We are so gratified to share this story on Larry, who’s made a career in the hospitality industry, and through his work has been able to afford a home of his own.

In May, Larry was hired as a Bar Porter at Rivers Casino. It’s always been his dream to live on his own, and this job—a full time position with a great set of benefits— has enabled him to reach that goal: Larry got his own place and is doing awesome at work, where he’s known for being hardworking, a quick learner, and never missing a shift.

Larry’s path to his position began in 2014, when he started working at the Frog Commissary, the long-time Philadelphia catering company. That’s where he cut his teeth in the hospitality industry, eventually turning his experience into a position at The Watermark in Philadelphia, and now the full-time role at Rivers.

When Lerma, Manager of Employment Services at CIS, stopped in recently to get some photos of Larry, he was busy behind the bar, stocking various stations. While he finished up, Larry’s manager came over to say what an excellent job he’d been doing. He received a raise after just two months at work, and sets a great example in his diligence and skill.

We are deeply proud of Larry, and thrilled for the home and career that his hard work has brought him.
