It’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), and we invite you to hit that ‘like’ button for Kevin, pictured here on “Day One” of his job at a Public Library in Delaware.
Kevin started his new position there after 20 years spent caring for his elderly parents. He shared that he’s happy to be back in the workforce, where he’s quickly become an integral part of the library. In his role there, he’s responsible for re-stocking books and keeping the shelves organized and orderly.
The 2023 NDEAM theme is Access and Equity, and a key component to both for people with disabilities is access to opportunities. Too often the only jobs made available to people with a disability are menial or low-wage work, yet as we see with Kevin and countless others, employees with disabilities excel when given an opportunity in positions of all kinds and at all levels.
At CIS, we forefront opportunity in our work, always striving to help CIS participants find good-wage, full-time, sustaining jobs in the field of their choice.
Congrats to Kevin on his great new job, and big thanks to CIS Business Development Specialist Amy Green for the great pic. Stay tuned to our page all month long for more stories of CIS participants finding success at work.
