Another excellent “Day One” is in the books for one of our participants, James, who recently started a new position with the School District of Philadelphia. James was hired as a Support Assistant at a local middle school in Northeast Philly and has been an enormous asset since.   

At his job, James is mainly responsible for supporting different areas of the school, primarily in the main office, by overseeing early dismissal check out and managing visitors’ arrivals and departures. Equally exciting is that our staff supporting James have seen him take to the job quickly since he was hired earlier this month. CIS’s Shadia Fairfax-Walton shared some wonderful comments about his progression while she was supporting James earlier this week:  

“When he needed to walkie the office today, he did much better with only having to repeat twice before saying it over the walkie. This is an improvement from last week, and we hope to see this continue. James continues doing a fantastic job with his new employer and the role he is responsible for.”  

We strive to find just the right job for our participants here at CIS, and our staff, who support our participants daily, continue to ensure they are on the path to complete independence.
