Give it up for Will, who recently wrapped up an awesome internship at Delaware’s beloved supermarket chain, Redner’s Warehouse Markets.
One of our partners in supporting Will, the Delaware Division for the Visually Impaired, had this to share about Will’s journey towards employment:
“When he moved to Delaware, Will and his family immediately began to look for services to assist Will with his employment goals and found DVI. This internship opportunity was orchestrated by VR counselor Amber Cohee, and Will is so grateful to have completed his first work experience. Over the 6-week program, Will could feel himself get more comfortable performing his responsibilities, which slowly built up his confidence. He believes this experience has significantly prepared him for future job opportunities and does not feel nearly as nervous for it anymore. We are so proud of the hard work he put into the internship, and we can’t wait to see what else he does in the future!”
Internships like Will’s give young adults with disabilities important real-world work experience and help them to discover the careers they want to pursue. Check out our school-to-work transition programs here to learn more!
