As we spend #NDEAM thinking about equity and what it means for people with disabilities at work, we’re grateful for the chance to spotlight Mark, who’s celebrating his five-year anniversary at 1776 Steakhouse.
Mark was tapped to join the team back in 2017, and it’s been a perfect fit. He loves his job, and he’s deeply valued by 1776 owners and staff. Mark is part of the Kitchen Team, and we stopped in recently to find him in the midst of a bustling shift: he was doing dishes, breaking down boxes (“it’s like going to the gym!” Mark told us), and doing whatever needed to be done to keep the back-end running like clockwork.
Mark’s story is a great reminder that a component of equity means your employer invests as much in you as you do in them. Mark’s found that kind of support at 1776, where co-owner Tom and Chef Tammy took the time to honor Mark’s fifth year as part of the team, then posed for a picture with him out front of the restaurant.
Congrats to Mark on five big ones at 1776, and here’s to many more!
