This year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) theme focuses on disability as part of the equity equation, and we want to amplify the perspective of the people we serve.

Pictured here is Trevor, who works on the Dining Services team at a local residential healthcare facility. He told us he took the job for the good hours, the sustaining wages, and because it’s a position where he could put his skills to work. He’s also found a supportive work community, with co-workers who’ve helped him grow in his role:

“Employers and employees are better educated about disabilities these days, and this has helped create a more welcoming and accepting work environment,” Trevor shared.

As we celebrate NDEAM, we recognize that workplace equity for people with disabilities begins with employers recognizing their tremendous contributions. Stay tuned to our social media pages as we tell more stories of people with disabilities in the workplace, or head to the main page of our blog to learn more!
