Last month, CIS in Delaware joined forces with the Caesar Rodney School District, Wyoming United Methodist Church, and other local partners and businesses to put on its 8th annual Mission Possible event.
The yearly gathering for CIS-supported students from CR Countywide Programs connects students with disabilities with local employers for a series of interactive sessions. Throughout the day, students got to explore different career possibilities—from agriculture and architecture to healthcare and retail—and network with local employers.
Making this year’s event particularly special was a video message from Delaware Governor Matt Meyer.
“This is about you and your future,” Governor Meyer said. “As you think about what comes next, I want you to stay curious, try new things, ask questions, and pay attention to what you enjoy…That’s why programs like this are so important. CIS is helping people find meaningful jobs, build independence, and connect to our communities, while working with employers to build a more inclusive workforce.”
It was a joyful, engaging event that helped students build bonds with one another and make important connections with local employers. Head here to learn more about CIS’s different school-to-work transition programs, which each year help propel students with disabilities into sustaining careers.
