CIS Celebrates Ron, and a Friendship 25 Years in the Making

We’re excited to kick off our 30th anniversary celebration by honoring Ron, a participant who’s been with CIS nearly as long as CIS has existed. He retired last month from his job at Wawa, where he’s been a cherished presence for 25 years.

Ron got his start there in 1995, and came to see the store as a not just a job, but a family. Every single year, his co-workers gathered to celebrate his birthday, bringing him hats from Wawa and his beloved Phillies and Eagles teams to add to his collection.

Ron worked on the Buildings and Grounds crew, and became a familiar and friendly face at the coffee station, where he was in charge of re-stocking supplies for customers coming in to re-stock their caffeine levels.

“Ron is the best,” said Kim P., a Benefits Specialist at CIS who has worked closely with him over the years. “He is super energetic, always smiling, and often sings while he works—he has a really nice voice.”

A nice voice, and a warmth that makes him easy friends with everyone he comes into contact with. While retirement is a bit of a bittersweet song for Ron—he said he’s loved every day he on the job at Wawa—he’s got a lot on the calendar for his post-work life. Ron recently got married, and in his time to himself likes playing the guitar and practicing karate (though not at the same time!).

We’re proud to be able to say “we go way back” with Ron, and we celebrate his spirit, his kindness, and the standout job he’s done at Wawa for 25 years.
