Happy October everyone! It’s crisp, it’s festive, and it’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month!
#NDEAM is a celebration of employees with disabilities and the tremendous contributions they make at work. It is also a time to celebrate the businesses that have embraced inclusive hiring practices and spread the word about the benefits of working with organizations like CIS to hire, train, and retain quality workers with disabilities.
We’re kicking off the celebration with this story on Kwame, a CIS participant who went from Sales Associate to Store Manager at a local CVS! Talk about growth!!
This month, Kwame celebrates four years in his position at the store. Our own Mia Decker praised Kwame for the hard work that’s led to his promotions, and said Kwame is always eager to help customers, train new employees, and is always open to picking up shifts to help his coworkers.
Along with being a dedicated worker, he recently completed trainings so that he can assist in the pharmacy, which extends his skills as a Manager.
Kwame’s position at CVS embodies the “good jobs” mentioned in this year’s NDEAM theme. Stay tuned to our social media pages throughout October as we spotlight CIS participants and the positive impact they’re making in jobs around the region.
Happy NDEAM, everyone—we look forward to spending it with you!
