Congratulations to Chris, who’s pictured here on his first day on the job at a local elementary school!
Chris will be working 25 hours per week as an employee of The Nutrition Group (the food service management group that runs the school’s dining services) and his position at the school is an important part of an even larger story.
The Nutrition Group—which operates the food service programs for Mastery Schools schools throughout the city—has been a champion of inclusive hiring, and in recent years has hired more than 14 CIS participants.
Leading that effort is Trenay Parker-Langston, the Director of Food and Nutrition / HR for The Nutrition Group at Mastery Charter Schools. Trenay has been instrumental in hiring CIS participants for jobs with The Nutrition Group at schools throughout the city. These are great jobs with abundant hours and strong wages for the people we serve, and her advocacy, flexibility, and support have done so much to help them succeed in their jobs.
“Trenay is incredible,” said Nairi Bedrossian, Manager of Business Development at CIS. “She understands CIS’s mission and really goes above and beyond to make sure every single person she hires feel welcomed and a part of the TNG / Mastery Charter family.”
While Chris’s time at The Nutrition Group has only just begun, he follows in the footsteps of many others who have shown what a valuable addition they are to the workplace if only given the chance. We are grateful to Trenay for believing in the people we serve, and we can’t wait to see all that Chris goes on to achieve.
