This time last spring, we ran a story about CIS participant Jason, who responded to the pandemic by putting his sewing skills to work for a great cause, making one-of-a-kind protective masks for co-workers and friends working at essential businesses throughout the city.
Jason works at Dollar Tree and runs his own pet accessory business, One and Oney Designs, where he makes one-of-a-kind bandanas and bow ties for our four-legged friends. We recently checked in with him, and what a difference a year makes! With vaccines now widely available in Philadelphia, Jason’s been able to turn his attention from mask-making to learning new design skills he can put to use at his personal business. He’s been working hard on mastering drawing on a digital tablet, which has enabled him to design his own fabric for dog bandanas.
Another neat thing about Jason: he cares as much about the environment as he does keeping our animal companions looking good, so his fabric designs are full of bicycles and solar panels.
Cheers to Jason as he continues to expand his skillset, and make sure to check out One and Oney Designs–we’re excited to see what the next year will bring!
