At CIS, we aim to empower people with disabilities through individual employment opportunities that foster self-sustainability for our participants. We want our participants to see the value they bring to the business they work for, and help them live a life of greater independence along the way.
Today we want to celebrate Aramark and its leadership in hiring and supporting employees with disabilities. Aramark is headquartered in Philadelphia, and is one of the country’s largest food service providers. Aramark not only employs dozens of CIS participants and provides internships to our school-to-work transition programs, but also partners with us to host hiring events that bring together local schools and universities who are eager to hire CIS participants.
Since the start of our partnership, over 85 CIS participants have gotten jobs with Aramark, and it’s a relationship that goes way back! Take, for example, Shawn, a CIS participant who has been employed with Aramark at St. Joseph’s University since 1993—30 years! Since day one of working together, Aramark has provided exceptional training, career growth, and opportunities for advancement for our participants in all their jobs.
We’re proud to partner with Aramark, and commend them for leading the way in showing what supportive, sustaining work environments look like for employees with disabilities.
