We’re so proud to share these pictures of CIS participant Amira, who spent September 11th giving back to the community.

Amira works at Lincoln Financial Field as part of the Event Staff, and rather than taking Labor Day off, she volunteered for ‘Meal Pack for 9/11 Day.’ A partnership between the Philadelphia Eagles, AmeriCorps, Philabundance, and U.S. Hunger, the event brought 900 volunteers to Lincoln Financial Field. Over the course of the day, nearly 500,000 meals were packed (!) which were then donated to Philabundance, who will distribute them to Philadelphians in need.

Amira was first assigned the role of ‘runner’ during the day of service, and did a great job making sure her team had all the proper food to pack for meals. However, after quickly mastering that particular responsibility, she asked to become the ‘captain’ of her packing team, and got the job!

Amira had a meaningful and fun day, and along the way made sure her team correctly sealed bags of rice, lentils, and seasoning.

We are really proud of Amira for spending the day giving back, as we remember all of those who lost their lives in the attacks of September 11, 2001.
