Pennsylvania
CIS began as a pilot project funded by a federal Supported Employment grant at Temple University in 1989, serving 10 individuals with disabilities. CIS became an independent 501c3 nonprofit in 1991, and has since expanded to serve Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, and Bucks Counties, CIS provides employment services to over 1,500 annually in the Greater Philadelphia region.
The majority of referrals come through PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Office of Developmental Programs, Bureau of Autism Services, and school districts across Southeastern PA.
Delaware
CIS began serving Delaware in 2001, after Delaware Division of Developmental Disabilities Services recruited CIS to help improve employment outcomes for Delawareans with disabilities. Since then, CIS Delaware has grown into an organization of over 90 dedicated staff members known for exceptional service provision and outcomes. Serving all three counties – Kent, Sussex, and New Castle – CIS provides employment services to over 600 annually across the state.
The majority of referrals come through Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Division of Developmental Disabilities Services, and over a dozen school districts across the state.
